How often do we rush to the store and buy the newer, better, or faster gadget? How many times have we judged people based on the labels of their clothes? How has it become so easy for us to be so caught up in these material things of life?
Our society has a mentality that these things will bring us happiness and success. But when we take a step back and look at the bigger picture, there is so much more to it. Material things tend to weigh us down. I often catch myself stressing out about the material world, just to realize how stupid it is to be doing so.
Moments like that are a reminder to look around me at the beauty of my surroundings. My family, emotions, the stars, friends, nature, strangers, laughing...everything. There's a Chinese proverb that says, "That which is loved is beautiful." So why not love life in general? If we learn to love our world, our life, ourselves in every aspect, we learn beauty. And what is greater than recognizing the true artistry and elegance of the world we inhabit?
